LiNbO3 Crystal has unique electro-optical, piezoelectric, photoelastic and nonlinear optical properties. They are strongly birefringent. They are used in laserfrequency doubling, nonlinear optics, Pockels cells, optical parametric oscillators, Q-switching devices for lasers, other acousto-opticdevices, optical switches for gigahertz frequencies, etc. It is an excellent material for manufacture of optical waveguides, etc.
Ho,Cr,Tm:YAG -yttrium aluminium garnet laser crystals doped with chromium, thulium and holmium ions to provide lasing at 2.13 microns are finding more and more applications, especially in the medical industry. The inherent advantage of the crystal crystal is that it employs YAG as the host. YAG’s physical, thermal and optical properties are well known and understood by every laser designer. It has wide applications in surgery, dentistry, atmospheric testing, etc.
La3Ga5SiO14 crystal (LGS crystal) is an optical nonlinear material with high damage threshold, high electro-optical coefficient and excellent electro-optical performance. LGS crystal belongs to trigonal system structure, smaller thermal expansion coefficient, thermal expansion anisotropy of crystal is weak, the temperature of the high temperature stability is good (better than SiO2), with two independent electro – optical coefficients are as good as those of BBO Crystals.
Passive Q-switches or saturable absorbers generate high power laser pulses without the use of electro-optic Q-switches, thereby reducing the package size and eliminating a high voltage power supply. Co2+:MgAl2O4 is a relatively new material for passive Q-switching in lasers emitting from 1.2 to 1.6μm, in particular, for eye-safe 1.54μm Er:glass laser, but also works at 1.44μm and 1.34μm laser wavelengths. Spinel is a hard, stable crystal that polishes well.
Nd: YAG crystal rod is used in Laser marking machine and other laser equipment.
It is the only solid substances that can work continuously at room temperature, and is the most excellent performance laser crystal.
Nd:YAP AlO3 perovskite (YAP) is a well known host for solid state lasers. The crystal anisotropy of YAP offers numerous advantages. It permits a small tuning of wavelength by varyingthe wave vector direction in the crystal. Furthermore, the output beam is linearly polarised.
